This blog is about my private venture into having Mr. John (Poshgoblin) Pickford doing me a small range of 28mm dwarf miniatures that will fulfill my personal need for more dark, sinister and vicious dwarfs.

Boar Knights by Blue in VT

Can't believe it! I was so sure I've published these. I had a request regarding my boar's and I wanted to point out how well the mix with old Marauder Miniatures Orc Boars, but I couldn't find the darn post. I was rather certain that I've made it it, but apparently not ... shame on me, and sorry Blue :(

Cause last year, good friend Blue in VT (Chris Sabick) of Blue's Maraudering Miniatures has actually painted five of the Ewal Boar Knights and he did a stellar job. Blue even mixed my knights and boars with different Ewal Dvergar sets but also other manufacturers like Marauder Miniatures and Old School Miniatures with good results ...

I better make up for that - because they are totally awesome - so here they are. Blue's wonderful Boar Cavalry

Stunning work, Blue. Thank you for permission using these here. So, sorry for the delay :-(

Boar Knights greens - the command group

To finish of the Boar Knights John has build 2 command figures. A beautiful Musician and an impressive army standard bearer with the magnificent Raven banner.

And here they are:

EDK10 Boar Knight Musician

The axe hand is a seperate piece and will be interchangable with the two left hands from the main knights set.

EDK-10 - Boar Knight Musician

EDK10 Army Standard Bearer

The banner has been a rather challenging piece but I believe John nailed it. I'm so proud of the Raven Banner - will look spectacular on the battle field.

The standard bearer will also come with a smaller teamed Boar banner.

But also with an opportunity for fielding him as an army champion by giving him an impressive demon faced shield.

Boar Knights greens - the Knights with hand weapon and shield

Been taking a fair bit longer than expected but John Pickford has finalised the Ewal Dvergar Boar Knights and the prototypes are now ready for another mastermoulding proces and then they can enter the production stage.

Here's a small introduction of what to expect.

First the mounts themselves - the 3 new alternative boar poses

Bringing it to a full set of 5 different poses

And then the riders - the Ewal Dvergar Knights - and again a multi-parted project with lots of options for different builds. We've build these 4 different body poses:

And they will come with the choice of 6 heads, 7 hands and probably 4 or 5 shields

Only one of the two metal sallets (second and third from left) will go into this set

7 right hands - 2 left hands

The face shield will be saved for another project
- and only one of the stars will become available with this one.

Will show you builds when I have some masters in my hand.

Is that a PONY ..?

... some might ask!

And a rather delicate matter it is, too :)

For some time, John and I have been discussing what approach to take, should we decide doing some cavalry for the Dvergar range. During these discussions we have even been talking about doing some centaur type creatures.

I come from a time where dwarves where riding Bears or where Boar mutations. And, my original vision for centaur types for the Ewal Dvergar have been more alien/bug liked creatures, as I have never really fancied the cow-type centaurs, some have made for their evil stunties - and have been even less thrilled by peoples pony-centaur builds. So when John presented me this idea, I wasn't "sold" .... (to say the least) ... but was I proven wrong ... ? So very wrong .... cause, look at this:

The Centaur is done from a White Knight Pony base and a Ewal Dvergr torso. John has then added armour and build two brilliant head-options picturing the two things I would probably dis-like the most - but this here is done with so much humour and love that I feel for it, instantly.

I'm undecided about it's faith, though. I have the permission from White Knight to have it cast, but question is - should I go for having a hole united made? - or shall it be a stand alone piece? I'm not sure! I'm leaning towards, doing a small unit - but can we keep this great feel? Can we come up with new ideas, without repeating ourselves? Can we continue this humoristic vibe this guy has? Guess, only time can tell what will happen.
